NAPSA is an association of contract sweepers, sweeping equipment dealers, service providers, municipalities, sweeping equipment manufacturers and sweeping industry suppliers, dedicated to providing beneficial support to the NAPSA membership, consolidating and enhancing services to the sweeping industry.

 

 

Membership Details

Members Terms: 1 year.

Membership fees are paid annually, multiple years may be purchased.

Most of my customers belong to at least one professional association. It might be the local Building Industry Association or Property Management Association. They spend sometimes thousands of dollars to belong and participate in their respective trade group. They understand the benefits and that only the top firms in their industry spend the money and time to belong.  They are sometimes surprised there even is a Sweepers Association. I don't think they have any idea "gutter cleaners" would even have their own professional association. It is definitely viewed as a positive affiliation, that creates credibility and trust. The thing I get most out of NAPSA is the fellowship we have with the contractors. This reminds us of all the same problems and joys. NAPSA allows us to converse with each other. The benefits of Power Vac Services being a NAPSA member is best summed up as:  discounts on parts, networking with other sweeping contractors, and receiving first-hand information on sweeping industry news.  We receive discounts from several vendors due to their NAPSA programs.  Being able to network with other sweeping professionals helps to direct or redirect our efforts and focus us towards better profits and efficiency.  NAPSA is always faxing or emailing news about tradeshows, articles or interesting information to its members.  It is great to know that we belong to a club... the sweeping professionals' club...NAPSA

I have taken advantage of the networking benefit.  As someone new to the sweeping industry, I email or call some of the other NAPSA members to get information relative to dealing with certain issues common to all sweepers.  Some of the issues include: scope of contracts, desirable employee traits, construction cleanup, truck maintenance and much more.  I gain access to decades of experience in sweeping by phone calls or emails, something the local guys wouldn't dare share with me.  I gain an edge over my competition by doing this.

For years we had wanted to accept credit cards.  Each time we looked into it, the monthly charges and rates were just to high to justify it.  We only had a few customers who where requesting it, but several out of town contractors had also offered to pay by credit card.  When NAPSA announced their credit card acceptance program through Paymentech we looked into it right away.  We discovered the sign up process was simple and the monthly charges and rates were very reasonable.  Since we have introduced this to our customers a few of them have given us their credit card numbers and requested that we bill their credit cards before we even send them the invoice.  This cuts down on their paperwork and we get paid for the job immediately – a win win situation! 

We no longer have to extend credit to out of town contractors who have no pay history with us.  It just seems like they had taken advantage in the past by going 90, sometimes even 120 days, before paying.  We no longer have to deal with the hassle of them overnighting us checks either.
